Adoption Services

Adoption ServicesThe Board of Child Care has a long and proud history of providing adoption services. Today, we offer the following services:

  • Pre-Adoption Information and Referral Services

An adoption professional is available to answer questions, outline options and refer you to the best local and national resources for your particular plan. This is a free service.

  • Home Study and Post Placement Services

As a licensed child placement agency in Maryland and the District of Columbia, the Board of Child Care provides complete domestic and international home study and post placement services for families living in both jurisdictions.

  •  Post-Adoption Search and Reunion Services

For many decades, the Board of Child Care served birth mothers who voluntarily relinquished their parental rights and the agency placed these children within adoptive homes.

BCC no longer directly places children in adoptive homes, but the Search, Contact and Reunion Program serves adopted adults and their birth parents whose past adoption services were provided by BCC and who may now want information about one another.

  • Domestic and International Adoption

While the Board of Child Care no longer places children for adoption, we currently partner with Adoptions Together, an established, licensed adoption agency in the Baltimore-Washington area. Through this partnership, families have a choice of adopting domestically or internationally.

In the domestic program, newborns and infants are placed with waiting families. In the international program, the primary countries placing children with U.S. families are in Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America.
