Treatment Foster Care Program
The Board of Child Care’s Treatment Foster Care (TFC) Program provides therapeutic, nurturing, community-based foster homes to youth who need a higher level of care than what is provided in traditional foster homes.
Many TFC youth have experienced trauma, abuse or neglect and need caring adults to understand their pain, instill positive family values and celebrate their successes.
Youth in the TFC program are age 2 to 21. Sibling groups may also be placed with the Treatment Foster Care Program if at least one youth meets treatment foster care criteria. These youth typically have developmental, emotional, or behavioral challenges that require specially trained foster parents and social workers to help them successfully overcome these challenges.
TFC Program Offices
BCC’s TFC program takes referrals from agencies across Maryland and places children in foster homes throughout the state. However, the program is operated out of two offices.
- The Baltimore TFC office is located at BCC’s headquarters at 3300 Gaither Road and primarily serves children and families in the Central Maryland region.
- The Southern Maryland TFC office is located at 30049 Business Center Drive in St. Mary’s County and is operated through BCC’s newly acquired program – Alternatives for Youth and Families. This office primarily serves children and families in Southern Maryland, including St. Mary’s, Charles and Calvert counties.
