Emergency Shelters

Vulnerable youth arriving at emergency shelters are frequently runaways, homeless, abused or neglected, or experiencing a personal crisis. Through counseling, guidance, and provision of temporary shelter, youth receive immediate help to cope with their circumstances. While in care, staff provide youth with needed guidance and counseling, as they also prepare a plan for transition to a more stable environment, whether its home, foster care, or a residential care program.

The Board of Child Care has emergency shelters for youth in four locations: in Baltimore and three additional shelters in Hagerstown, Mt. Airy, and Pasadena, Maryland.
