The Auxiliary

Helping and Healing Children

The Auxiliary of the Board of Child Care is an organization of volunteers and supporters from across The Baltimore-Washington Conference who share the love of Christ with children and families served throughout the agency’s programs. The Auxiliary has been a valued partner since its founding in 1954, and celebrated its 50th year of service in 2003.

Each year, the Auxiliary plans a host of activities that benefit children. Whether it’s a fun event or finding ways to show they care about each child’s well-being, the children often recollect the kindness of the Auxiliary long after they leave the Board of Child Care.

Here are some of the projects the Auxiliary regularly plans:

  • Easter baskets for the children
  • Gifts for high school graduates
  • Thanksgiving food baskets for Board of Child Care foster families
  • Christmas Gift Stores for children to shops for their loved ones at bargain prices
  • Birthday cards and monetary gifts
  • District-sponsored field trips
  • Cookies are provided year round
  • Campbell’s soup labels collection to redeem for educational supplies, sports
    equipment, computers, etc.
  • Participation in Box Tops for Education, Giant, and other programs that provide cash for purchases
  • Furnishings for chapels on both campuses as well as other major purchases for the Board of Child
