FEATURED SPEAKER:

Rev. Michael Anthony Parker, II
Rev. Michael Anthony Parker, II

Rev. Michael Anthony Parker, II, has been announced as the Children’s Sabbath workshop’s featured speaker. Some in the United Methodist Church will remember his dynamic and much talked about presentation on “the word” at the 2015 Baltimore-Washington annual conference.

Rev. Parker grew up and still lives in the Sandtown neighborhood of Baltimore city. His unique perspective on the issues facing children and families in poverty is easily seen in his self-described personal motto:

“They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruin cities that have been devastated for generations.” ~ Isaiah 61:4

Desiring to use all his gifts for the advancement of God’s Kingdom, Pastor Parker is a young man who is on the move for bringing God glory in all he does. Please join us on Saturday to hear his inspiring words and thoughtful ideas on how to address child poverty in Baltimore.

JOIN US!

  • Are you currently working to alleviate child poverty in your local church and community?
  • Would you like to start a new ministry to address issues around child poverty?
  • Would you like to partner with others to increase your impact around child poverty?

If you or your congregation answered YES to any of the above, then the Children’s Sabbath Workshop could be an excellent way to meet others who share your passion for these ministries.

The second annual Children’s Sabbath Celebration is coming up on on Saturday, October 17, 2015.

This year’s theme is “Answering the Cry: Bending the Arc towards God’s Vision of Justice for Children.” Our goal as United Methodists is to multiply our impact as advocates for all God’s children. The celebration is an interactive advocacy event that will encourage people of faith to improve the lives of children and their families both locally in Maryland and globally.

The weekend observance is part of a national campaign organized by the Children’s Defense Fund. You are invited to come as an individual or to bring a team from your congregation. This event is appropriate for adults and teenage youth. Please join us and others committed to serving God’s precious children.
