Specialized Services for Commercially Sexually Exploited Children and Youth

Board of Child Care (BCC) offers high-intensity programming for females ages 14-20 who meet or are at high risk for meeting the profile of Commercially Sexually Exploited Children (CSEC), as defined by the State of Maryland.

Treatment Design

BCC’s theory of change is founded on a relationship-based approach that serves as the vehicle for recovery from complex trauma related to commercial sexual exploitation. BCC has a vast menu of evidence-based and research-supported clinical interventions designed to meet the specialized needs of this population.

Program Goals

  • Prioritize safety through security measures in a community-based, homelike setting.
  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary team to ensure continuity of care within and outside BCC.
  • Support youth in improving ability to self-regulate and manage impact of trauma.
  • Guide youth to achieve personal empowerment with strengths-based approach.
  • Promote development of transferable skills for transition to adulthood and overall success.
  • Create opportunities for family engagement to achieve youth-specific permanency plan.
